I Only Achieved Half of My Three-Year Business Targets…

Yesterday marked the third anniversary of GC Consulting.

It was the first day I could slow down after a packed week of project launches – we kicked off a high-stake executive development project at 9am on a typhoon Monday, followed by three full days of clienteling workshops with a high jewellery house, and closed the week with a packed afternoon of leadership coaching.

So instead of throwing a big celebration, I…

✨ slept in

✨ took my groovy boy to the vet

✨ walked along the river with my husband

✨ and ended the evening with a homemade hotpot

As I finally had the headspace to reflect, I came across an old Excel file – “Gogo Cheng Consulting Three-Year Ambition” created back in September 2023.

It was both grounding and humbling to look back on where I started, where I hoped to be, and where I actually landed. 

So today, I’d love to share that reflection with you.

Launch GC’s business Instagram: A Year One goal to support small businesses and founders on customer loyalty – We ended up launching the GC Newsletter instead to deliver the purpose but in a different channel.

Launch paid membership content on our website: A Year Two initiative that remains on the shelf.

Publish a book: A Year Three ambition to share GC’s clienteling frameworks and shift industry mindsets.

Achieve an ambitious three-year commercial target: You can probably guess where I picked up the habit of setting stretch goals – 18 years in corporate leadership will do that!

Grew GC’s LinkedIn community from 2,000 to 16,000+ followers.

Strengthen industry awareness of client loyalty and intentional clienteling through creating two pieces of content weekly, every week.

Developed the GC’s core product: The Art and Science of Clienteling™

Partnered with clienteling experts around the world –  co-hosting webinars and integrating their expertise into GC projects to drive greater impact.

A global client footprint

From conducting luxury audits at a whisky distillery in Scotland to co-creating clienteling transformation with Canada’s leading department store, GC is now working across industries and continents.

A world-class GC team 

One of my biggest fears in entrepreneurship was loneliness.

But today, GC isn’t just me. We’re a passionate, like-minded core team of eight  across operations, branding, SEO, business development, and more.

One of the hardest (and most meaningful) things I’ve ever done. 

A moment that connected my mission, my roots, and my “why” — as Daniel Priestley beautifully puts it.

Expanded industry reach

Thanks to the trust of our clients, we brought GC’s human-centric mindset and skillset  beyond luxury fashion – partnering with  e-commerce leaders, yachting’s VIC managers,  B2B account teams and more.

A second company in the making

Yes, it’s comimg ! More details to follow – but the vision is clear: To revolutionise luxury clienteling by creating the world’s most trusted academy — where expertise is shared beyond any single brand, and memorable human interactions define true luxury.

Plans are meant to guide, not limit us.

And the only way to validate a dream is to bring it to life.
