A few weeks ago in London, I had a short window between meetings for a day trip.
I wandered into Gabriela Hearst’s Brook Street boutique, drawn in by its refined visual storytelling and beautifully crafted pieces.
One particular look caught my eye: a Coleridge Vest in linen denim and a pair of flare trousers to match.
Rada, the stylist, noticed where my attention lingered and offered for me to try them on.
She confidently suggested my size, took the pieces, and graciously led me downstairs to a spacious fitting and sitting area. She hung the garments and waited just outside the door.
When I mentioned the trousers felt a bit tight, Rada gently invited me to step out so she could take a look.
Her eyes lit up.
“Wow, they look perfect on you,” she said warmly.
Then – with subtle care – she adjusted the button behind my vest, centred my gold chain necklace, and said, “Vola, look in the mirror!”
I loved the look. At that moment, I knew I wasn’t leaving without it – even though I still hesitated on the fit.
Rada sensed my hesitation immediately and she brought me a size up, and patiently let me compare.
