I still remember what my family doctor said to me during my early Farfetch years:
“Do you ever wonder where you are when you wake up?”
He was referring to my non-stop travel schedule and intense workload – three weeks out of four each month across three continents. When I am not travelling, my days started with early morning calls with the US team, followed by full-day meetings in the office, rushed home around 5pm to have quick dinners at home, and continued on late-night calls.
Weekends were spent recovering in bed or zoning out in front of Netflix.
To the outside world, it looked like a dream job: travelling the world, attending fashion shows, dressing up for luxury events.
But inside? I was constantly stressed – making sure clients showed up, events ran flawlessly, and revenue targets were hit.
Even in the most breathtaking business or event destinations, I wasn’t truly present to enjoy any of it.
